【FEATURE】ANA — IS JAPAN COOL?
2012–2020 / Branded Content Platform
「IS JAPAN COOL?」
Spikes Asia、The One Showをはじめとする国際広告賞でも評価された。

Japan's Traditions and Innovations. A World of Contrasts.
"IS JAPAN COOL?" is a branded content platform launched by All Nippon Airways (ANA) in 2012 to introduce Japan's diverse cities and culture to audiences around the world.
Following the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011 and the subsequent decline in inbound tourism, the project sought to renew international interest in visiting Japan while expressing the essence of ANA's brand concept, "Inspiration of Japan."
The creative concept was rooted in an insight uncovered through focus group research conducted in Japan with French, American, and Chinese participants: the appeal of Japan lies in its "contrast and chaos." Ancient traditions coexist with cutting-edge technology, contemporary culture, and subcultures. This coexistence of seemingly opposite worlds became the foundation for presenting Japan's multifaceted identity to global audiences.
Originally launched as a standalone initiative, the project evolved into an ongoing content platform following its international reception. In 2013, its creative approach was also adapted into an original film used in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic bid presentation.
From 2016 onward, the platform evolved toward immersive experiences combining Japanese culture with advanced digital technology. Exploring contemporary art, festivals, martial and performing arts, traditional craftsmanship, and video game culture, the projects received recognition at international creative awards, including Cannes Lions, Spikes Asia, and The One Show.
By inspiring people to discover Japan, the initiative connected inbound tourism promotion with ANA's corporate brand identity—creating a long-term branded content platform that also served as a vehicle for sharing Japanese culture with the world.
