【FEATURE】SOCIAL DESIGN & PHILOSOPHY
CHANGING PERSPECTIVES. CHANGING POSSIBILITIES.
Social challenges and long-held assumptions can take on new meaning when viewed from a different perspective. By challenging conventional thinking, creative ideas can shift perceptions, inspire action, and open up new possibilities.
Redefining the idea of taking shortcuts in cooking as making everyday life easier. Shining a light on the people who keep our communities running. Opening university knowledge to the wider public. Reinventing the rules of competition so that everyone has a chance to win. And sharing a message of hope through film when the world faces extraordinary challenges.
Through projects for SEIYU, Kyoto University, Nomura Securities, the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), and others, Shiro Nomura has transformed social themes into communication that invites people to connect, reflect, and participate.
What matters is not simply telling people what is right, but creating moments that encourage them to see an issue as something personally meaningful. Questioning assumptions, redefining values, and sometimes redesigning the systems themselves.
Five creative projects that have challenged perspectives and opened up new possibilities for society.

Challenging the guilt associated with taking shortcuts in everyday cooking. By reframing convenience as a way to reduce unnecessary effort rather than compromise on care, the campaign offered a new perspective on meal preparation and the pressures of domestic life.

An online initiative that brought Kyoto University's knowledge and research to a wider public during the COVID-19 pandemic. By extending academic perspectives beyond the campus, the project created opportunities for people to pause, reflect, and reconsider society and the future.
04 / NOMURA SECURITIES — MY PERSONAL BEST
https://www.shironomura.com/personalbest/
Inspired by the idea that everyone can be a winner by surpassing their previous best, this project introduced a new competition format that uses individual performance differences as handicaps, allowing participants to finish together. By rethinking the conventional rules of sport, it created an experience that celebrates personal progress rather than simply winning or losing.
